A contemporary vision of classic theme. A woman and her role in society through all of human history: queen, mother, lover, wife, leader, warrior, business person
.Images of Women in Yelena Tylkina’s Art
All the female images of Tylkina’s art are the symbols of the Great Mother or Virgin Mary (in the past, she was known as Ishtar, Cybele, Rhea, Astarte, the Egyptian, Iris, Demeter, Hecate, Diana, Venus, Qwan Yin, Rhada), a divine female, sometimes portrayed as an old but always ageless woman: the Earth, the sea, a cave, a tree, a flower, a bird.
Whatever the symbols within the image, whether dramatically twisted, ecstatically colorful, tenderly nude, or traditionally solemn, it often evokes a great religious feeling, or spiritual uplifting.
Tylkina’s images of women radiate wisdom, authority, and unconditional love; a synthesis of all that has risen from the pain and strength of the women in one’s family and, collectively, from all the women in human history, stretching back through time.
Using backgrounds from prehistoric drawings to brightly explosive modern day urban graffiti, Tylkina’s uniquely flavored images of women give us access to resources of insight and information of those times and embody all that we deeply need, fear, hope for, or avoid.
The female part of the human psyche known as “Anima” exists in every one of us, whether male or female, as a unique quality of our personal characters: the receptive and creative aspect. In man, it depicts sensitivity and contact with his unconscious through receptivity, his relationship with his own feelings and intuition. In woman, “Anima” manifests her higher potential and unrealized capability.
The female, the woman, alone holds the cosmic mystery of birth and our future potential, as our imagination continues to unfold.
